Boutelle-Day Poetry Center – Smith Alumn Reading

For those of you who missed the Smith Alum Poetry Reading, it’s not too late to enjoy the six poets (yours truly included) who read from their original work that evening. What a wonderful mix of ages, poetic sensibilities, Smith experiences, and more! I was honored to accept the invitation from the Boutelle-Day Poetry Center to organize and host this event. Having an opportunity to reflect on and share some of my experiences, both on the Smith campus and in Spain during my JYA was interesting. Even more meaningful was the camaraderie we shared, both as “Smithies” and as writers. A bond was born that I continue to cherish—and isn’t that what community is all about. Again, gratitude to the readers and to Jen Blackburn and Matt Donovan of the Poetry Center, for their initiative and efforts to make this event such a success.
